7.5 hp Mercury outboard algid alpha 2 cylinder, two stroke
Little shots of an old marine outboard in cold start up, run to operating tempature and run thru some tests. Test gears, idle, smooth, solid, dependable, test water pee-hole, test electric start. Mercury outboard 7.5 hp 2 cylinder, 2 cycle runs on pre-mix fuel at 50:1 ratio. The slight difficutly in first start up is poor quality fuel from last season. I have burnt all the poor fuel in first few minutes as you see after running 2 or 3 minutes the engine starts with hand string start on one pull many, many times. She is well designed, nicely built and well maintained over the many years. We estimate 30 plus years. This motor saw most service in a freshwarter enviroment, as she was purchased in a boat deal from a "Farmer Paul" in upstate New York in '06. The engine was operated mostly on Lake Champlain in the Famous Finger Lakes reigon. Only saw saltwater the last few years down here on Long Island, even then operated in the brackish backwarters in the bays and harbors on Western Long Island Sound. The salt is certanily not as strong here on Long Island western North Shore as it is on the beaches of the South Shore like Rockaway or Jones beaches
